Biography

"Adelaide de la Foret, Airman First Class."

Adelaide de la Foret is a young girl of medium height and slender build. She has been blessed with fairly good looks, eyes as blue as the ocean, and golden blonde hair which she usually keeps cut short and tied with a red ribbon. At first glance she appears to be a loner, indifferent towards others, but a sensitive personality hides behind that cold exterior.

Adelaide used to be Princess of Avionterres, thought to have been killed during the Avionterres Civil War. Prior to the war, she was the only child of the ruling king and queen. Her life was seemingly perfect, she had everything that her heart could ever have wished for, be it fine clothes, exquisite dolls, or good books. She and her parents were liked by the people of Avionterres.

Even though they drew much support from the masses, Adelaide's mother and father had a group of enemies within the Avionterrian aristocracy, headed by Adelaide's uncle, who wanted the throne of Avionterres for himself. Adelaide's uncle kept his ambition secret for several years while accumulating supporters, soldiers, mercenaries and weapons. He supported EMA, Ltd. as well, and was able to acquire the assistance of their experimental air force.

When Adelaide's uncle finally decided to make his intentions known, it shocked everyone to see swarms of fighters swooping down from the skies and taking out key targets across the country while columns of infantry and armor rolled in. There was fighting in the streets of every city in Avionterres, as local militia and royal army units struggled to repel the attackers. Although they fought valiantly, these loyal defenders would find themselves gradually pushed back, their forces unable to compete with the numbers and technology fielded by the enemy.

The Avionterres Civil War culminated with the fall of the Avionterrian capital, where the last remnants of the royalist forces put up a last stand, buying enough time for their king and queen to escape the country. As soon as the Avionterrian Air Forces' fighters, escorting the plane carrying the royal family, had left the country's airspace, the defenders finally scattered, later forming a number of resistance groups that would be harassing Avionterres' new government and EMA facilities over the next few years.

"I hate her with all my heart, Daddy. I don't care if you kill her parents, but I want her to have a worse fate."

Shortly after the Avionterres Civil War started, Adelaide had been sent away to live in another country, with her parents hoping that she would be kept away from harm. It was a prudent move and she would have never been noticed at all, were it not for her cousin, who harbored bitter jealousy towards her. When Adelaide's uncle began making his moves to take over the country, his daughter used his influence with the EMA to instruct them to hunt Adelaide down specifically, and ruin her life utterly. On the night that her parents made their flight from Avionterres, EMA commandos broke into Adelaide's bedroom and spirited her away.

The commandos who abducted Adelaide brought her to one of the EMA laboratories. Here, she was shown video footage of the fall of Avionterres, and was told that her parents were dead. Using carefully-crafted propaganda, the EMA's psychologists convinced Adelaide that her parent's supporters lost the war because the United Nations ignored the threat posed by her uncle, and that if they let her go, she would never be safe, her enemies hunting her down wherever she would go.

Deceived by these lies, Adelaide reluctantly accepted to submit herself to the EMA's child soldier program. She would be trained to be capable of defending herself, and would be given the chance to seek vengeance on her uncle and on the UN. A timid girl deep down inside, Adelaide had no real desire to fight, only to remain safe. The EMA training was demanding, and in order not to fail the program, Adelaide slowly built up a cold, strong-willed persona in which she could hide her soft true nature behind.

The result of Adelaide's training was astonishing, both to her trainers as well as herself. During her training, she exhibited remarkable hand-to-eye coordination and learning capability. Adelaide learned to fly fighter planes with ease, and graduated with above-average, if not outstanding, marks. She was assigned to an EMA fighter squadron that flew the Su-47.

Not long after her fighter squadron assignment, Adelaide caught the attention of "Archer", a United Nations spy posing as an officer in the EMA squadron’s airbase. Archer had been a good friend of Adelaide's mother, as well as being a former Avionterres Air Forces fighter pilot who accepted an assignment to infiltrate EMA territory and relay information back to UN Intelligence. Adelaide and Archer fast became good friends, and feelings of hope and regret began to awaken in the former princess turned fighter pilot. When Archer saw this, he assisted Adelaide in escaping, helping her steal an Su-47 which she flew all alone, under cover of darkness.

Slipping past EMA flight patrols and evading the squadrons launched to pursue her, Adelaide landed on a UN airbase, the coordinates of which had been provided to her by Archer. She immediately surrendered to the UN security detail that surrounded her plane upon it's landing, and was taken to a hospital for removal of her EMA RFID chip, then a physical and psychiatric evaluation.

Adelaide rested in the hospital for a few days while her surgical wound healed and the UN doctors evaluated her. During this time, she resolved to make the EMA pay for misleading her, and then to punish her uncle for causing the war that ruined her life. When the doctors completed her evaluation, considering her free to live a normal life, she requested entry into the United Nation's armed forces. With the EMA's military strength growing day by day, the UN was willing to accept her.

As a fighter pilot, Adelaide is aware of the misfortunes that surround every EMA child soldier. She would prefer never to fire a shot against any single one of them, but as every good soldier does, she rationalizes the act of doing so as a necessity. Cautious, perhaps overly so, Adelaide favors striking from standoff distances with medium ranged missiles such as the AIM-120 AMRAAM, or stalking an unsuspecting enemy before gunning them down, than to get into a dogfight.

Description, Technical and Historical Notes

A contract for the production of this advanced Russian fighter was secured by the Sukhoi design bureau when EMA Ltd. began to form elite fighter squadrons with mentally conditioned children as their pilots. The Su-47 is one of the most dangerous fighters flying in the skies of the UN-EMA conflict; it is highly maneuverable and can reach speeds of Mach 2.3 with its pair of Lyulka thrust-vectoring turbofan engines. Additionally, a plasma stealth system renders most of the EMA’s Su-47s nearly invisible to radar.

When Adelaide de la Foret defected from the EMA, she stole one such Su-47 from the airbase that she was assigned to. Making good use of it’s plasma stealth system as well as the inherent electronic warfare capabilities afforded by it’s active phased array radar, Adelaide managed to evade the fighters launched by the EMA to pursue her, as well as the flight patrols that were already in the air. Since then, Adelaide’s Su-47 has been repainted and also modified with enhanced electronic warfare equipment. It now sports a distinct blue and white paint scheme. The tails, wingtips and sides of the aircraft just below the canopy bear the image of a long-haired blonde girl with severed chains, triumphantly raising a longsword above her head.
